About

FORMATION

Founded by three financial services executives, Sapere Aude Consortium was established in June 2020 to solve for an immediate problem caused by COVID: the elimination or reduction of summer internships for college students interested in investment and wealth management.

After completing the 2020 summer program, we recognized that there are two more structural problems that needed solving: the lack of wealth and investment management internships for “rising juniors”; and, more importantly, the gap in first generation students, particularly those from diverse groups, who apply for internships after their junior summer, when most established internships occur at these firms.

Therefore, Sapere Aude Consortium was converted to a Massachusetts nonprofit, and on November 19, 2020 filed Form 1023 with the IRS, seeking recognition of exempt status under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We have taken this actions so that we can take the next step in addressing these structural issues, and deliver on our mission. Sapere Aude Consortium, Inc. was then formed as a Massachusetts nonprofit and we were subsequently granted exempt status by the IRS under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

We will fulfill our mission by providing virtual summer internships/externships, focusing on a diverse group of individuals who are primarily first generation college students, or whose parents are public servants. Diverse, in this sense means race, gender and economic diversity.
